At Social40+, we’re building something simple but meaningful.

A welcoming community where people aged 40+ (and those who feel aligned with our community) can make genuine friendships, enjoy new experiences, and feel comfortable turning up, even if it’s their first event.

Most people come on their own.

​

Many are stepping outside their comfort zone.

Let’s help make that experience a positive one for everyone.

Be Kind

​

Treat everyone with kindness, patience and respect.

Everyone has their own story, background and reason for joining Social40+.

A smile, an introduction or inviting someone into a conversation can make all the difference.

Everyone Belongs

​

Social40+ welcomes people from all backgrounds, cultures, religions, abilities, genders and sexual orientations.

Discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation or hateful behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

Our community succeeds because everyone feels welcome.

Respect Personal Boundaries

​

Friendships happen naturally.

Please respect personal space, privacy and individual boundaries.

If someone isn’t interested in continuing a conversation or sharing personal information, respect their decision without pressure.

Social40+ is a social community. While genuine relationships may naturally develop, members should never feel uncomfortable or pressured by unwanted attention.

Arrive with an Open Mind

​

Some events will be lively.

Others will be relaxed.

Some conversations will become lifelong friendships.

Others may simply be enjoyable conversations over dinner.

Come with curiosity rather than expectations.

Help New Members Feel Welcome

​

Remember your very first event.

If you see someone standing alone, introduce yourself.

Invite them into your conversation.

Small gestures often become lasting friendships.

Respect Our Hosts

​

Our event hosts volunteer their time and energy to help create enjoyable experiences.

Please:

• arrive on time where possible

• let us know if your plans change

• follow any venue or event instructions

• treat hosts with respect

Responsible Alcohol Consumption

​

Many Social40+ events are held at licensed venues.

If you choose to drink alcohol, please do so responsibly.

Anyone whose behaviour becomes aggressive, disruptive or places others at risk may be asked to leave the event.

​

Respect Our Venues

​

We are guests wherever we go.

Please:

• follow venue rules

• treat staff respectfully

• pay for your own purchases unless otherwise advised

• leave venues as you found them

Strong relationships with venues allow us to continue creating great experiences for everyone.

Photography

​

Photos and videos may be taken during some events to celebrate our community and promote future events.

If you would prefer not to appear in photographs or videos, simply let your event host know before or during the event.

We’ll happily respect your wishes.

​

WhatsApp Community

​

Our WhatsApp Community is an extension of Social40+.

Please:

​

• keep discussions respectful

• stay on topic where possible

• avoid excessive self-promotion or spam

• avoid political or divisive debates

• respect members’ privacy

• never share another member’s contact details without permission

​

We’re here to build connection, not conflict.

​

Safety First

​

Your safety matters.

Please:

​

• look after your own belongings

• use common sense during activities

• follow any safety instructions provided by venues or event hosts

• notify us before an event if you have accessibility requirements or concerns

If something doesn’t feel right, speak with an event host.

Privacy

​

Many members value their privacy.

Please don’t share another member’s personal information, photos or stories outside the community without their permission.

What happens at Social40+ stays respectful.

If Something Goes Wrong

​

We understand that misunderstandings can happen.

If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, or you witness behaviour that doesn’t reflect our values, please speak privately with an event host or contact us after the event.

All concerns will be treated respectfully and, where appropriate, confidentially.

​

Community Expectations

​

Social40+ may suspend or remove members whose behaviour is inconsistent with these Guidelines or our Terms and Conditions.

​

This may include:

​

• harassment

• discrimination

• repeated inappropriate behaviour

• threatening or aggressive conduct

• intoxication that affects others

• behaviour that places members or the reputation of Social40+ at risk

​

Our goal is always to maintain a welcoming community for everyone.
