These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Social40+ social club website, membership services, and events.

By using this website or becoming a member, you agree to these terms.

1. About Social40+

Social40+ is a social club that organises events, activities, and experiences for adults aged 40 years and above.

Social40+ provides:

• social events

• community groups

• cultural activities

• food and dining events

• walking and social meetups​

​

Social40+ operates events primarily in Melbourne and may expand to other cities in the future.

 

2. Eligibility​

To join Social40+ social club, you must:

• be 40 years old - (however, we do not discriminate and if you feel aligned to the age demographic, and still wish to join, you will be welcomed with open arms)  

• provide accurate registration details

• agree to follow community guidelines​

Social40+ reserves the right to refuse membership where behaviour or activity is inconsistent with the community values.

3. Membership

Membership provides access to the Social40+ social club community and events.  Social40+ Melbourne reserves the right to promote membership tiers where pricing models have been utilised.  This includes foundational memberships from inception, staged releases of membership tiers as well and inclusive of event based pricing.

Membership types

Social40+ offers several membership tiers, including:

​

• Foundational membership - $12.00 AUD per month 

• New member membership - $16.00 AUD per month 

• Ongoing general membership​ - $24.00 AUD per month 

​

Membership fees are billed monthly. Prices are subject to change with 8 weeks notice to all members affected.

Payments

Membership fees:

​

• are charged automatically each month

• are payable in advance

• are non-refundable once processed

​

Members may cancel 7 days before the next billing period.  Membership can be suspended if payment is not made or card details not updated affecting participation at any event.  

​

4. Event Participation​

Members may book events through the Social40+ website or app.

Events may include:

• walking groups

• dinners

• theatre visits

• gallery visits

• social drinks

• travel experiences

• hikes

• motivational speaking events

• creative experiences

• specifically curated and tailored events

Some events may require additional payment.  Events will advise by the RSVP mechanism as FREE or USER Contribution..... "Pay as you go" for meals, tickets, drinks, purchases.  No profit is obtained by the purchasing of tickets to events.

5. Personal Responsibility​

Members attend Social40+ social club events at their own risk.

Social40+ does not guarantee:

• personal safety outside reasonable care

• compatibility between members

• availability of all advertised events

Members are responsible for their own conduct and wellbeing.  Unsatisfactory behaviour between guests and members will not be tolerated and can result in removal from Social40+ permanently after careful review.

6. Behaviour and Community Standards​

Social40+ aims to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment.

Members must not engage in:

• harassment

• discrimination

• aggressive behaviour

• inappropriate conduct

Social40+ reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership where behaviour breaches these standards.  All members will be mindful of all different and various aspects of society, religion, ethnicity, politics, sexuality, and age.  

No discrimination is entertained in our community based social club and failure to adhere will result in immediate termination of membership.  If as a result this occurs during the month-to-month membership cycle, membership fee's for month paid will not be refunded.

7. Inclusivity​

Social40+ is an inclusive community and welcomes members of all backgrounds - no questions asked.  Respect for all members is a condition of participation.  Failure to adhere to this will result in termination and banning from the group.

8. Event Changes​

Social40+ may cancel, reschedule, or modify events due to:

​

• venue changes

• weather

• safety concerns

• operational reasons

​

Where possible, members will be notified in advance.  Any fees for particular events will be either refunded, or where reasonable, carried forward to a revised event.

9. Photography and Media​

Photos and videos may be taken at Social40+social club events for promotional purposes.

By attending events, members consent to the use of images on:

​

• the website

• social media

• marketing materials

​

Members may request removal of images by contacting Social40+ and where practical, employees of Social40+ shall request permission verbally to use media.

10. Website Use​

Users must not:

​

• misuse the website

• attempt unauthorised access

• copy or distribute content without permission

​

All intellectual property on the website belongs to Social40+

​

11. Limitation of Liability​

To the maximum extent permitted under Australian law, Social40+ is not liable for:

​

• personal injury during events

• property damage

• indirect or consequential loss

​

Participation in events is voluntary.  

​

12. Privacy​

Social40+ collects personal information to manage membership and events.

Information may include:

​

• name

• email

• age

• contact details

• event participation

• personal preferences

• emergency contact details

​

Data is handled according to the Social40+ Privacy Policy and inline with The Privacy Act (1988) and it's 13 Privacy Principles.

13. Termination​

Social40+ may terminate membership where a member:

​

• breaches these terms

• engages in inappropriate behaviour

• harms the Social40+ community

​

Termination may occur without refund.

​

14. Changes to Terms​

Social40+ may update these Terms and Conditions at any time.

Updates will be published on the website.

Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

15. Governing Law​

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
